The CUAA Advising Awards Program annually recognizes members of the FIU academic advising community who have demonstrated outstanding qualities in academic advising. All recipients will be recognized at the Fall Advisors’ Forum.

Advisor of the Year

Awarded to an academic advisor who has been in his/her role for more than two years and has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to academic advising excellence. Monetary prize included.

Excellence in First Year Advising

Awarded to an academic advisor who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to advising first-year students. Monetary prize included.

Excellence in Advising Student Populations

Awarded to an academic advisor who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to advising special students populations: Veterans, SAS programs, student athletes, transfer and international students, and more. Monetary prize included.

Excellence in Career Advising

Awarded to an academic advisor who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to career advising. Monetary prize included.

Professional Development Award

Awarded to an academic advisor who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to professional development. Monetary prize included.

Advising Innovation Award

Awarded to an academic advisor or group who has developed innovative and/or exemplary practices resulting in improvement of academic advising services. Monetary prize included.

Advising MVP (Most Valuable Partner) Award

Awarded to an individual, team of people, or department external to the advising community for their outstanding support.

Lourdes Acevedo Professional Development Award

The Lourdes Acevedo Professional Development Award is awarded to an academic advisor who has a vested interest in and commitment to advocating for his/her students. This is a self-nomination– tell us how you go above and beyond to advocate for your advisees.
